Registered Polysomnography Technician (Sleep Tech) 585 W. College Avenue Santa Rosa, California
We have exciting opportunities for Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or Registered Respiratory Therapists. Potential Sign On and/or Relocation Bonus!
These positions will work independently during the night and conduct overnight polysomnographic testing. The PSRT or RT safely operates sophisticated medical equipment used to record sleep/wake physiology, explains procedures, prepares patients and applies recording devices. Key responsibilities include monitoring polygraph recordings and audio/visual equipment to ensure patient safety, test quality, sleep/wake data and other physiological events.
Essential Functions: • Performs basic and complex polysomnographic procedures, such as baseline polysomnography, nasal CPAP/Bi-PAP titration and multiple sleep latency tests (MSLT) and ASV as defined in department policy and procedure. • Implements therapeutic procedures such as nasal CPAP and supplemental oxygen administration, and works with patients to ensure CPAP compliance. • Applies electrodes and recording devices as defined in departmental policy and procedures and ensure artifact-free recording. • Completes procedural and computer documentation as outlined in departmental policy/procedure and obtains/records an appropriate patient history. • Prepares entire test for physician interpretation, including stage scoring using Rechtschaffen & Kales criteria and pathology scoring standard guidelines as defined in department policy and procedure. • Prepares workplace for next night’s studies by cleaning/sterilizing equipment, maintaining equipment in a professional manner, storing/cleaning properly, and making up beds with clean linens.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • AA Degree in Polysomnography or Respiratory Therapy
Experience: Requires one (1) year prior experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist or Respiratory Therapist.
License/Certification: • California Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) in good standing with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). Or California Registered Respiratory Therapist. • Current BLS certification.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills including Windows and an e-mail system.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Good written and verbal communication skills. • Good interpersonal skills. • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Position Qualifications: Experience: Two (2) Plus years prior experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist or Registered Respiratory Therapist highly desirable
Other: Membership in Association of Polysomnographic Technologist (APT) or American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM)
