This Pediatric Sleep Lab Technologist will be responsible for:
Preparing patients and equipment for procedures. Obtaining medical history from patient/families to identify and meet patient-specific needs. (e.g. physical/mental limitations, current physiological status regarding the testing procedure). Reviewing procedure request provided by ordering physician, and complying with all standard lab protocols.
Performing polysomnograms according to hospital and laboratory standards and protocols; routine and specialized PSG, and other specialized procedures to meet the procedure request/goals of the study.
Performing routine and complex equipment care and maintenance, troubleshoots technical problems with equipment and coordinating repairs as needed with appropriate personnel. Keeping equipment clean and in proper working order.
Attending monthly technical staff meetings providing professional input for the development of procedures and protocols for the Center.
Participating in professional meetings on a local, regional, and national basis.
To qualify, you must have:
High School diploma our equivalent
Associates Degree in medical profession preferred.
Two years of experience in a sleep lab, pediatric Sleep Laboratory setting preferred.
OR Completion of a certified PSG training program, with some clinical experience.
Knowledge of PSG related equipment, basic troubleshooting and interfacing.
Knowledge of the AASM manual of rules, terminology and technical specifications.
Ability to recognize abnormalities, artifacts, events and document with accuracy.
Knowledge of patient safety procedures and protocols, infection control and emergency procedures in a hospital setting.
Skilled in the application of equipment including 10-20 measurement system.
Ability to interact effectively with patients and families, demonstrating empathy, patience, and confidence.
Ability to remain calm, assess and quickly react to urgent/emergent or critical situations or events.
Certification in CPR is required.
RPSGT exam eligible preferred.
