How would you like to become a part of a team providing compassionate care to Veterans? Open to current permanent Iron Mountain VAMC employees only (including CBOCs/VCS) only. This employee provides skilled advanced practice acupuncture services to the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center under the direction of the Telehealth/Whole Health Nurse Manager. The acupuncturist will utilize standard medical evaluation procedures and East Asian Medicine evaluation under the direction of a journey level or higher acupuncturist or other health care provider in accordance with the established treatment plan. The acupuncturist shall incorporate the various training techniques taught within East Asian Medicine and acupuncture. Major Duties: Serves as a leader of the interdisciplinary Whole Health team to provide evaluation, monitoring, planning, and coordination of care of patients for acupuncture services and other Whole Health modalities such as yoga, Tai Chi, massage therapy, at the Medical Center and its seven Community Based Outreach Clinics (CBOCs). Participation in case reviews and treatment plan discussions with other staff members. Participates in the creation of new programs or interventions that may include group acupuncture, combining acupuncture with other interventions and expansion of acupuncture into new populations or new settings such as CBOCs. Work closely with the Caregiver Support Program staff in developing and implementing programs to assist Veterans and their caregivers in improving their health. Develop, review, update and implement educational material to meet the needs of the program. Educate patients on health lifestyle changes including nutrition, exercise, sleeping habits, stress management, mind body techniques and other matters related to acupuncture care. Communicates with other health care providers as a member of an interdisciplinary team providing care to the Veteran. Other duties as assigned.
