Learn more at www.multicarejobs.orgPosition Summary:The Polysomnographic Technician is responsible for performing comprehensive Polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general oversight of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and/or the medical director (M.D., D.O., or PhD) or designee. A Polysomnographic Technician can provide oversight of a Polysomnographic Trainee. This is a technical position functioning independently with limited supervision. Work situations require extensive knowledge and the application of advanced expertise in the field of sleep disorders, and sound clinical judgments, actions, and decision making regarding unusual patient behavior, i.e. seizure activity, life threatening cardiac and respiratory abnormalities. Internal contacts are basically within the work group but may include patient care staff and management throughout the Medical Center. This position has external contacts with physicians as well as extensive direct patient care and patient contact on a daily basis. Minimum Requirements:One year polysomnographic technology experience preferred.Education/Licenses/Certifications:Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificationSuccessful completion of an accredited (CAAHEP preferred) educational program leading to an associate degree with emphasis in polysomnographyORSuccessful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one year duration associated with a state licensed and/or nationally accredited (CAAHEP preferred) educational facilityORSuccessful completion of an American Academy of Sleep Medicine A-STEP accredited educational program leading to a certificate in polysomnographyORMinimum six months work experience as a Polysomnographic TraineeANDCompletion of certification (CPSGT) in polysomnography within six months of employment
